In this four-part mini-series, we are looking at every aspect of Laminate Flooring. Of course, it is just a summary, but still a fairly comprehensive overview of Laminate Flooring – all you need to know!

So, from parts one and two, we have already learned that Laminate flooring is a multi-layered synthetic flooring product that simulates the look of wood or stone. It consists of four layers, each of which has its own function.

We also learned a little of the history of Laminate flooring and that it comes in a wide range of makes and types, mostly from Europe, but many with manufacturing facilities in other countries, such as Turkey, and all of them offer something slightly different and unique.

If you missed either part on or two you can get them here – BLOG – In part 3 we look at why one would choose Laminate flooring and we go into it’s many benefits, so let’s dive straight in…

‘Why Laminate Flooring?’

Cost-effective – First and foremost, price-wise Laminate flooring beats traditional wood flooring hands down, and yet it still has the look and feel of wood, so one can say it is highly cost effective!

The Chameleon effect – Amazingly versatile, Laminate flooring can mimic the finest wooden floors and more recently have even been made to look like marble and granite!

Hygienic and Easy to clean – Because Laminate floors use anti-microbial resin to bond the layers together, they tend to be more hygienic – and from a cleaning perspective, just regular sweeping and an occasional cleaning with a damp mop will do it. Remember these floors are not waterproof though!

Eco-friendly – Laminated flooring contains minimal chemicals (which preserves air quality) and paper and wood pulp, which is easily disposable – so it is eco-friendly.

Installation is key – The correct installation, or laying, of any floor is essential, so although another benefit of Laminate flooring is its easy, clip on installation, professional installation is still always advised.
