Busting Carpet Myths – Just in Time For Winter

It is surprising how many people don’t make carpets their first choice, even in the winter months, due to myths related to old carpets or misinformation.

It is a pity, because there is absolutely no better choice for the cold months than carpets, which offer warmth, comfort, and a huge range of styles and colour choices. This makes carpets a favourite with many Interior Designers and those in the know about home decor.

You need to ask yourself ‘’Why do most of the five-star hotels all over the world still choose carpets for their luxury suites?’’ Well, perhaps debunking some common carpet myths will help you reconsider your stance on them. In this article then, we we look at Busting Carpet Myths – Just in Time for Winter!

Myth – Carpets are not fashionable – Nothing could be further from the truth. Designers the world over prefer the myriad of choices that carpets offer them when it comes to decor, and particularly in bedrooms in winter months, where carpets offer warmth and a feeling of sheer luxury, they are timeless and should always be your first choice.

Myth – Carpets are unhealthy – It was always thought that carpets gathered dust and were therefore unhealthy. Actually, carpets trap dust, and because you never sweep them, but vacuum them, the dust is kept out of the air, thereby preventing the spread of allergens.

Myth -Carpets are expensive – Also not accurate. Obviously,  with all flooring, it depends on the type that you choose, but the average carpet is cheaper than most other types of flooring and installation costs are also generally cheaper.

Myth – Carpets need too much cleaning – Again, this is nonsense. Carpets gather no more dirt than any other form of flooring, provided they are regularly vacuumed, which is absolutely normal practice.
