Why carpets are a great choice for winter! – Part 1

No matter how much you like the look and feel of the very popular flooring types of Laminate and Vinyl, and the sheer elegance of Wood and Engineered wood, there is still something very special about carpets – especially in winter!

In this 2-part mini-series, we look at not only why carpets are a great choice for winter, but also illustrate how carpets are available for a wide range of uses all year round.

We can answer this by using the capital ‘C’ for carpets to add three more ‘C’s for why carpets are so great at this time of the year…

Comfy – There is absolutely nothing like the feel of a plush carpet under your bare feet as you alight from the bed, luxuriating in its comfort all the way to the bathroom and beyond.

Cosy – In winter, especially, the warmth of carpets is wonderful. They really do increase the temperature of a room and keep out some of the sting of the cold. This also results in significant savings on energy costs.

Caring – Energy conservation is good for the environment too, something we all need to be aware of. The old myth that carpets are dust gatherers and therefore unhealthy has been dispelled with more recent research that shows that the trapping of allergenic particles in the carpet actually prevents them from floating in the air and doing more damage. All you need to do is vacuum regularly for a more allergy free environment.

Don’t think that carpets are only for winter either. All year round, at least in certain rooms, carpets can work beautifully and have these same benefits. Apart from bedrooms, carpets in family rooms where you like to cosy up to watch TV can also be fabulous.

Well-chosen carpets can match other types of floors so well, too – and they just look so beautiful! Why do you think so many five-star hotel establishments still use carpets? For sheer luxury and elegance, they can’t be beaten.
